Situated in the Freestate National Botanical Gardens, Eden Restaurant caters for guests preparing tasty and wholesome meals as well as picnic baskets (that range in size as well as prices), which can be enjoyed in the picturesque gardens.

The open, airy restaurant with sandstone and dark wood transforms to a cosy interior in the winter months once the fireplace is lit. In the summer, guests can enjoy the cool breeze on the veranda, with its stunning views.

Owners Hans and Amanda Esterhuizen spice things up with themed evenings on Friday nights such as the recent “Snoek Braai”. Favourite dishes on the menu include their famed Butternut Soup, Chicken Salad and Bobotie. On Sundays the chef prepares delectable three course lunches for only R85.00.

The restaurant also caters for various functions, both in the restaurant itself and outside. It’s the ideal venue for couples that choose to have their wedding ceremony in the Garden’s chapel, and their reception in the Eden restaurant, which is transformed for special events. If the group is not too big, a dance floor can even be provided. Eden can easily accommodate 60 people seated and up to 120 for finger buffets.

Also situated in the Gardens, the Conference Centre often requests that Eden Restaurant arranges all the catering for the delegates. The delegates can be served in the restaurant or at the Conference Centre, depending on the relevant requirements and the nature of the conference.

Amanda’s experience in managing other restaurants and guest houses has equipped her to handle all requests and make the experience of dining at Eden Restaurant, a memorable occasion. On the other hand Hans’ previous restaurant was his training ground. This husband-and-wife team, with their enthusiasm and attention to culinary detail, make Eden Restaurant with its magical setting, a truly unique venue!
